Back when we started Drunken Zombie the horror podcasting landscape was so different. It seemed like there were only a handful of us and we were all just sort of jumping in trying to figure out what we were doing. And of course you had some long running shows like NOTLP or even the Splattercast that had been around awhile before us but for the most part it was the wild west. Nobody really knew what this podcasting this was or what it would lead to. But we all decided to try it out. Well we just quietly celebrated our 5th year. Another podcast that started within weeks of us was Horror Etc. and today they just put out their 5th Anniversary show. In it Ted and Tony chat about how much the landscape has changed for us. Now you throw a rock and you’ll hit about 5 horror podcasts. We’ve seen shows start, fall, start again, and end. But a few of us that started out in that scary new podcasting world are still going and I’m super happy to say that one of the best is Horror Etc. We’ve always had a friendship with them. They’ve often spoken highly of us as we have done in return to them. All because it’s genuine. There’s no bullshit, there’s no agenda. A majority of the emails sent back and forth between me and Ted are never mentioned on either of our shows just because we like chatting. And it’s never like a daily thing. Every once in awhile I’ll just shoot him an email saying I’m loving the show or just to comment on something he had said during the show and he’ll respond and we’ll go back and forth with no reasoning of “Oh man I hope they plug us on their show.” I just think Tony and Ted (and Doug) are nice guys and I’m glad to have them as internet friends. It’s just crazy to think about how these podcasts have introduced a lot of us to other people we would have never have met. I interact with people all over the world all the time that without DZ I would have never had a reason too. But Horror Etc. always holds a special place with us because of just the genuine friendship they have with us. Both of our shows has had their number of stupid podcast drama but it’s nice to know there are people out there that just enjoy podcasting but don’t take it so seriously that it interferes with real life. Anyway the whole point was that Ted has some nice things to say about me and DZ on their show and as always I appreciate their support and most of all their show. So our Drunken Zombie Army raise your glass and give Horror Etc. a mighty Huzzah for their 5 years of entertaining all of us. Cheers. And if you’ve never listened to their show how dare you.
