Blu-Ray Extras And Features: CM Punk – Best In The World
I do believe this is the most anticipated WWE release in years. Ever since CM Punk cut the work-shoot promo last Summer everyone is clamoring to get a piece of the current WWE Champion. Such as Ring of Honor putting out a couple best of’s called The Summer of Punk, highlighting many of Punks matches between Samoa Joe, Roderick Strong, James Gibson and many other ROH alumni. And there’s Samoa Joe vs CM Punk, it’s a compilation of those two wrestlers and the series of matches they had together.
Also, I think we are talking WrestleMania numbers here when it comes to DVD and Blu-Ray sales. WrestleMania always tops WWE best selling DVD and Blu-Ray for said year and since Punk is hot, Best in the World might surpass Mania to become the best selling WWE Home Video of this year.
Side Note: Drunken Zombie is the best in the world at what they do… Now on to the Blu-Ray extras, if you will.
Disc One
Well of course we have the documentary and for it’s extras are many deleted scenes and stories that was cut from the documentary. Such as what does
CM stand for, and what is the back story to having the WWE Championship in Punk’s refrigerator. Also on this disc are some early matches from WWE-ECW, OVW and early PPV appearances.
Disc Two
The matches continues with some of Punk’s greatest matches. Like the 2011 Money in the Bank match between John Cena or 2012 Over the Limit against Daniel Bryan. And the best part of this disc are more stories from Punk, friends and E Superstars.
Blu-Ray Exclusive Match – Mysterio vs. Punk from Armageddon 2008. And yes, there’s hidden easter eggs too.
A few thoughts, if you will: The only thing missing from this release was a few notable Ring of Honor matches. I know the E doesn’t like to cross promote, but ROH host some of Punks greatest “at the time” indie moments. Like his feud with Samoa Joe or the matches and promos between Punk and Raven. And let’s not forget the Second City Saints… But, you will see highlights from said indie moments.
In my smart mark opinion The Best in the World is one of the best documentaries the E has released in years. I can compare it to The Rise and Fall of ECW, and Breaking the Code: Behind the Walls of Chris Jericho.
In the end WWE did a great job with Punk getting the documentary made. I call this WWE Home Video release a Massive buy! And remember… Just as CM Punk is to wrestling, Drunken Zombie is to podcasting – The Best in the World. Massive.
