The Massive one himself is back once again, to finish the Resident Evil series of films for another DVD special features spotlight & tonight I’ll be reviewing Resident Evil: Extinction starring Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Ali Larter & Mike Epps. This is a two disc DVD set.
Disc 1
Up first is the commentary by Director Russell Mulcahy, Writer / Producer Paul W.S. Anderson & Producer Jeremy Bolt. In the commentary, Mulcahy talks about his horror movie influences & what kind of style & look he wanted for RE: Extinction. Anderson & Bolt gives you more insight about all three RE films & how they tie in with the video games also you get to know about the locations they filmed in & a few behind the scene stories. The only other extra on disc 1 was a digital copy of the film.
Disc 2
Beyond Raccoon City: Unearthing Resident Evil: Extinction is a four part featurette. 1 Alice Vision / Pre – Production, has interviews with Milla Jovovich, Paul W.S. Anderson, Jeremy Bolt, Russell Mulcahy & Producer Robert Kulzer. Anderson talks about the state of zombie films when the first Resident Evil was released & how since then there are so many zombie films out today. Mulcahy talks about what he had in mind for RE: Extinction & you’ll get to see his story boards & you’ll get the back story of when the producers of Resident Evil met director Russell Mulcahy & what kind of thoughts he had in mind for the film. 2 The Big Bang / Shooting RE:E, here you’ll find out about the locations & the filming conditions that the cast & crew had to work with. & you’ll see concept art for the vehicles & weapons & sets that they built. 3 Bigger, Faster, Stronger / The Undead Evolve, this extra will show you the different stages of zombies from dead to the super undead & different kinds of makeup Fx. 4 Vegas Visual Effects / Miniatures, you will see how they built the miniature Las Vegas set & how they shot it. Their are 11 deleted scenes, two video games trailers: Devil May Cry 4 & Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. & a preview trailer for the movie Resident Evil: Degeneration.
Overall: This DVD is a buy, it has everything that a DVD should have. Commentary, deleted scenes & a good featurette. Well I hoped you enjoyed the DVD Special Feature Spotlight for the Resident Evil films. Until next time, Have a good one.
