due to the overwhelming success of the Archive reprints of Creepy magazine that Dark horse has been publishing (reported to be a total of twelve when the collections are done, Dark Horse announced at San Diego that they will be bringing back the horror anthology as a 48 page quarterly series. expect to see the first issue to hit comic book shops in the spring. No word yet as far as prospective writers or artists but judging by some of the great work that we have seen over at Dark horse presents, I have high expectations for this book.

So this one is not from one of our junior correspondents. I was watching the ComiCon coverage on G4, drooling like crazy as I wished that I was there. They talked to Steve Niles and this may have been announced already but this is the first I have heard of it. He said that he is going to be writing the next John Carpenter film. That’s awesome. Fans of the show will know that we are anxiously awaiting his next project L.A. Gothic so after that we get the Niles/Carpenter film? Game on. Niles didn’t announce a title but said it would be a ghost story set in a small town that had something to do with serial killers. Sounds good. Hopefully with L.A. Gothic Carpenter will get back on his game so we can see some more classics from him.

Well not everyone can be perfect. Yakkity Sax Mark got a chance to see Lost Boys: The Tribe last night at the ComiCon Screening.  Here’s what he had to say.

Lost Boys was a blast, funny, gorey, music was great.  My wife thought it was campy, funny, and the music had a perfect throbbing background beat.  We’re going to buy both the CD and DVD.

Sigh.  As much as I love Yakkity Sax Mark I am much more beliving the other reviews I have heard of it which call it atrostious.  Oh well.  At least at the count so far it has 2 fans.

Mark calls in once again to update us about some of the panels he got to and the surprise appearance of Hugh Jackman talking about the Wolverine movie.  Not to detailed but check his account below.

And here’s what Dark Horizons had to say about Jackman’s surprise appearance:

Hugh Jackman showed up to massive applause. Having just gotten off the plane and with shooting just wrapped, the super-buff Aussie hunk got the crowd riled up as he ran into the audience and shook “Wolverine” creator Len William’s hand with very thankful platitudes of gratitude. Jackman calls it “action-packed and bad ass!” and we’ll get to see a lot of berserker rage.

Then came the footage, a montage of clips with Wolverine and Sabertooth line up to be executed – but neither dying. A young William Stryker (Danny Huston) reveals he’s putting together a special team (we see some Gambit and Deadpool footage). We see the experiment that made Wolverine, including a bit where he rises nude (tastefully shot) and wet out of the tub to attack people. There’s also a young kid with claws, Wolvie and Sabertooth fighting, Wolvie hanging onto a helicopter, and Wolvie on a bike shredding his claws through a truck which causes it to flip.
